Verimatrix selected to provide revenue security for TCC’s multi-network and multi-screen service offering
- Leading Uruguayan Cable Operator Deploys Multiple VCAS Solutions to Ensure Complete Protection of Premium Content Assets
AMSTERDAM — IBC 2013 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that leading Uruguayan cable operator TCC has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to provide revenue security for its multi-network and multi-screen service offering. TCC relies on several Verimatrix market specific solutions – including VCAS for IPTV, VCAS for Internet TV and VCAS for DVB – to provide multi-network revenue security from a common key management platform for its array of services.
TCC recently expanded its service offering with the addition of the new TCC Vivo over-the-top (OTT) video on demand (VoD) service, which is delivered through Kaon’s DVB hybrid set top boxes (DVB-C+OTT) running on Zenterio’s independent operating system, “Zenterio OS,” for interactive TV. The TCC services are accessible by tablets, smartphones, PCs and Macs, allowing subscribers to access premium content on their preferred device whenever they choose. As TCC continues to expand its service offering, it needs a robust and flexible revenue security solution that can enable content delivery and monetization spanning multiple networks, managed from a single security authority. The unified VCAS head-end architecture is matched by ViewRight® ONE, a multi-network device client for hybrid STBs.
VCAS meets these requirements by providing TCC with a comprehensive and unified security solution for all of its networks, including the hybrid DVB-C+OTT network, which also implements HLS adaptive bitrate streaming video delivery. VCAS protects video services to the broadest range of screens and across multiple network types, including both broadcast (linear) and on-demand delivery modes. Verimatrix enhanced HLS security incorporates advanced protection technologies otherwise only found in managed IPTV and DVB pay-TV systems, facilitating licensing of premium content.
“TCC is dedicated to delivering content, no matter what network is needed and no matter which device is preferred by the subscriber,” said Javier Ruete, CEO, TCC. “Verimatrix helps us achieve this vision by providing us with the revenue security solutions we need to protect both our current multi-screen offering, and any additional services or applications we add in the future. VCAS provides us with the flexibility and scalability that our business demands.”
“As pay-TV in Latin American continues to boom, and hybrid network configurations become increasingly popular, the need for multi-network revenue security has never been greater,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “Verimatrix can help savvy operators such as TCC execute on their multi-screen strategies by enabling them to cast a much wider net with their service offerings.”
Verimatrix will illustrate the key role of multi-network revenue security at IBC 2013, 13-17 Sept 2013 at the RAI Amsterdam (booth #4.A55). During the exposition, the company will highlight its key strategies to enable revenue security in the “post-smartcard era.” Senior representatives will be on hand to offer guidance on how operators can best address revenue security challenges presented by multi-network architectures and next-generation TV Everywhere video services.
