All change at NTV-Plus

The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has slashed the cost of receiving its services in what is probably the most far-reaching change in its 17-year history.
Always targeted at a high-end audience, it will from October 1 be offering a package of 90 channels for as little as R29 (€0.66) a month and its full service, consisting of around 190 channels, some in HD, for R499 a month, rather than the previous R3,000.
This will now compare favourably with the fees charged by other platforms.
NTV-Plus has been running at a loss for several years and at the same time seen little if any growth in subscriber figures.
Local sources now put the latter at 600,000.
They also say that Gazprom Media, NTV-Plus’s owner, is aiming to make the platform self sufficient and then profitable in the next handful of years.---from BroadbandTVnews.com
