While cable operators in the Indian city of Hyderabad are still rushing to meet the city´s deadline for digitisation, there is still a backlog of 1.4 million cable TV connections for installing STBs. According to High Court orders, the deadline is currently set at September 18.
L Hari Goud, president, Greater Hyderabad Cable TV Operators´ Association, said, ”We have asked all the operators in the city to supply STBs by September 17 to ensure that there is no disruption to cable TV services from September 19.”
According to cable operators, the city has roughly 3.2 million cable TV connections out of which 0.6 million are covered by DTH services leaving almost 2.6 million dependent on cable operators and MSOs.
