Philippines Cignal Digital TV targets to reach 1M subscribers by 2014

The Television arm of Philippines Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) and the subscription based DTH provider Cignal Digital TV , targets to reach at least 1 million subscribers by 2014. The satellite provider has reached out to 500000 subscribers after the roll out of affordable pricing schemes in January 2013.
Cignal Digital TV´s lowest price plans are offered for USD 9.11 per month and their premium plan is priced at USD 37.13 per month. The digital TV division was launched in the year 2009 and broadcasts DTH services both to households and commercial venues nationwide using direct broadcast satellite technology.
Philippines pay-TV penetration is only 14% of the GDP at the moment and is higher only against Indonesia´s 9%. Cignal is owned by MediaScape , a fully owned subsidiary of MediaQuest under PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund.
