High-speed internet access via cable continues to develop into one of the most attractive propositions at Kabel Deutschland.
In the three months between April 1 und June 30, 2014 Germany’s largest cable operator has won 83.000 new customers for its internet tariffs which offer a data rate of up to 100Mbps.
In total, more than 2.3 million of the 8.3 million Kabel Deutschland customers have now signed up for a triple play product from the areas of internet, telephony or premium TV. One year ago, the share amounted to 2.0 million.
In the first quarter of its business year 2014/15, Kabel Deutschland’s turnover rose by 5.8% to €491 million compared with the previous year’s quarter. The EBITDA grew by 4.1% to €226 million and the net profit climbed from €29 million to €47 million.
With €141 million (Q1 2013: €108 million), Kabel Deutschland invested almost 30% of the quarter’s turnover into the infrastructure upgrade and customer acquisition. Around €29 million were dedicated to special investment programme Alpha.
The funds from Alpha will mainly be used for fibre-optic expansion, network upgrade to 862 MHz and the deployment of DOCSIS 3.0, Wi-Fi and video-on-demand (VOD).
