Bangladesh’s satellite channel, Gazi TV, has acquired worldwide media rights for USD 20.025 million from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), for six years (May 2014 to April 2020).
WorldTel which was acquired by ESPN-STAR has secured a five-year rights for USD 11.75 million and Nimbus has invested USD 56.88 million.
Gazi TV is planning to sell the rights, of the three-match ODI series between India and Bangladesh, to Star Sports for USD 1 million; while Star has not shown interest in the deal. Reportedly, Gazi’s attempts to sell ODI sports rights to Indian state broadcaster, Doordarshan (DD), has gone in vain. As DD relies on sharing the feed with a satellite channel rather than buy the rights, exclusively.
