FOX acquires Paramount’s stake in LAPTV

FOX International Channels (FIC) has purchased Paramount Pictures share of LAPTV, bringing FIC’s ownership of the company to 100%.
LAPTV is the leading operator of premium movie channels in Latin America.
Paramount has also extended its long-term content output agreement with FOX International Channels. The deal gives FIC access to new Paramount feature films in Latin America, (excluding Brazil). LAPTV operates Moviecity and other premium channel brands, also has a long-term content output agreement with MGM, Universal Studio and Twentieth Century FOX.
“I’m very excited to announce that FOX International Channels will now own 100% of LAPTV, I am sure that we will leverage and increase the value of our product proposition to our affiliates, distributors and advertisers,” said Carlos Martinez, president of FIC Latin America, who recently named Edgar Spielmann as EVP and COO of FOX International Channels Latin America.
“Spielmann has been the head of LAPTV since 2009. He is a strong asset for our organisation and a key piece in our management team. Premium channels and nonlinear businesses are a priority for our company all over the world, and what LAPTV has built in Latin America is a powerful blueprint globally. The expertise of Edgar and the LAPTV team will be a great competitive advantage for FIC.” added Martínez.
