Gearhouse Broadcast, a company specialising in international hiring and selling of broadcasting equipment has built and installed two HD OB trucks for the Indian broadcaster, Doordarshan. The two trucks will now be stationed in the cities of Kolkata and Chennai in the country.
The trucks were built out of Bangalore and come wired with 10 cameras as well as feature a dedicated production room, a sound engineering room as well as audio mixing area. The trucks are also climate controlled. The two trucks will be used to film and broadcast any number of events including sports and festivals in both the cities.
Doordarshan which is operated through public broadcaster Prasar Bharti has been in the midst of a complete overhaul in order to attract more viewership. Most recently it announced that it will not only be adding a significant number of channels to its roster but will be adopting DVB-T2 technology. Currently 59 channels coming under DD´s bouquet of which 30 are private channels, 21 DD channels and two channels that telecast parliament sessions.
