22%, Strong Dutch VOD growth

The video-on-demand market in the Netherlands will grow 22% annually during the next five years, according to PwC.
In its yet-to-be-published Entertainment & Media Outlook for the Netherlands 2013 – 2017 the company predicts total turnover in the VOD market will rise from the current EUR97 m to EUR206m in 2017.
“The Dutch have now started to embrace this phenomenon,” said PwC partner Sander Kranenburg, “Consumers are increasingly watching more TV at a time when it suits them. Both the content and the facilities have been greatly improved. Moreover, the Netherlands has one of the highest broadband penetrations, so most households can stream high-quality videos.”
PwC published the figures after RTL Nederland announced it had acquired a majority stake in the Dutch online VOD service provider Viedeoland.
