NTV-Plus secures Russian football rights

NTV PlusLiga TV, the body responsible for media rights for Russia’s premier football league, has approved an agreement with the DTH platform NTV-Plus.
Kommersant reports that although financial details of the agreement, valid for three seasons, have not been disclosed, they are believed to be in the region of R2.2 billion (€35.2 million) per season.
This is roughly the same amount that NTV-Plus has paid in a previous contract, only now it includes not just broadcast but all media rights to the league.
These have previously bee estimated to be worth between R5.6 billion and R6.2 billion.
An earlier offer from NTV-Plus of R1.9 billion per season had been dismissed by Russian football clubs as unacceptable.
