DTT disappointment in Russia

RTRSOnly around 10% of Russian households are opting to watch DTT services despite them already being available to some two-thirds of the total.
Quoting data produced by iKS Consulting and Kabelshchik, Kommersant says that this contrasts with DTH services, which are now received in 33% of households.
Russia’s federal programme for the development of broadcasting in 2009-2015 envisaged that by the end of this year the first DTT multiplex would reach 100% of the population and second 98.3%.
However, earlier this year the programme was extended to 2018 and multiplex targets reduced to 98.3% and 98% of the population respectively.
According to iKS Consulting, there were 37.7 million pay-TV subscribers in Russia at the end of last year, and 59% opted for digital TV services.
