Singapore-based telco, StarHub, has attributed the addition of 2,100 subscribers pay-TV subscribers in the three months ended December 31, 2013, to the availability of English Premier League (EPL) football matches for the 2013-14 season on its digital cable TV platform.
Total pay-TV subscribers amounted to 533,000 end-2013 – 0.4% lower than 536,000 subs end- 2012 as a result of intense competition in the market. StarHub said pay-TV ARPU for the quarter was S$52 compared to S$51 in 4Q12, while pay-TV average monthly churn was down to 0.8% from 1.3% in 4Q12.
The company reported pay-TV revenues in the three months ended December 31, 2013, were up 2.1% to S$2.1 million as a result of increased advertising revenue in the quarter, although full year pay-TV revenues were down 2.7% to S$10.8 million.
