Swisscom TV grows by 16.5% in 2014

Switzerland’s telco Swisscom has acquired 165,000 new customers for its IPTV platform Swisscom TV last year.

The total customer number thereby rose by 16.5% to 1.17 million.

The Swisscom TV 2.0 service which launched in early 2014 and offers additional features recorded a total of 306,000 customers at the end of 2014.

The number of fixed-line broadband internet customers rose by 79,000 to 1.89 million in 2014.

Swisscom TV surpasses one million subs

Swisscom TV has surpassed the one million mark, thanks to growth of over 200,000 new customers in the last twelve months.

“Thanks to Swisscom TV, competition in the Swiss TV market is working better than ever. While practical functions such as the Replay function have changed the way people use television, customers are benefiting from an increasingly attractive range of offerings,“ said Marc Werner, head of residential customers at Swisscom.

Swisscom TV now offers 200 channels in SD, and depending on their subscription customers can now watch over 70 channels in HD quality.

The platform’s VOD service Teleclub on Demand features over 6,100 films in German, French and Italian. This year, live broadcasts on Swisscom TV will offer over 4,000 sporting events from the world of football, ice hockey, golf and Formula 1.
