Zee brings original digital content on its OTT platforms

Zee Digital Convergence and Essel Vision Productions Ltd are introducing a new show tailored for digital platform.
The seven-week programme “Life is Music” is available exclusively on lifeismusic.in and on the OTT platform DittoTV. This the first time that the company has announced content that is made solely for its digital arm. The show will feature original music compositions every Monday and Friday for over one and a half months.
“Life Is Music is a clutter-breaking original concept with a goal to inspire passion, unleash creativity and realize dreams in a digital era of free downloads. We are confident that the series will soon become a favourite destination for all music lovers, especially when you want to experience quality music never heard before. This exclusive series aims to engage, educate and entertain the youth about the variety and possibilities that exist with instrumental music,” said Zee Digital Convergence CEO Debashish Ghosh, according to Television Post.

Zee, Turner end distribution deal in India, Taj Television takes over

A joint distribution venture by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) and Turner International India has been scraped as the India’s regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is not allowing the aggregation of channels of multiple broadcasters in one bouquet. While, the Taj Television India, a subsidiary of ZEEL, will now distribute over 47 television channels of ZEEL, Zee Media Corporation and Turner International India across the country.
“With digitization having been completed in Phase I and Phase II cities in India, we now look forward to its implementation in the rest of the country. Taj Television would aim to create a harmonious relationship within the ecosystem and create value for all stakeholders. With a leading portfolio of television channels, both in the national and regional space and with a powerful portfolio of sports programming, we are excited about the future of pay revenues in the country,” said Atul Das, president, Taj Television.
The company will now distribute Zee TV, Zee Cinema, and pictures, Ten Sports, Zee Cafe, Zee Studio, Zing, Zindagi and a repertoire of regional language channels including Zee Marathi, Zee Bangla, Zee Telugu, Zee Kannada and Zee Tamizh, besides the HD channels like Zee TV HD, Zee Cinema HD, Zee Studio HD and Ten HD from ZEEL. Zee Media Corp’s two national and eight regional channels and Turner’s HBO, Cartoon Network, Pogo, CNN and Warner Brothers will be distributed.

India´s Zee Network to enter terrestrial TV space

India´s Zee Network will be launching Anmol, a free-to-air channel in the terrestrial space. This would be the first time a network other than public broadcaster, Doordarshan, will foray into this space and is expected to reach at least eight million terrestrial TV homes in India.
The new channel would try and reach out small towns and rural areas in the country and will feature 39 hours of repackaged programming in a week. In the second phase of its broadcast, the network announced that it will start featuring original programming as well. The channel will be launched on mobile phones from September 1.
With Zee Anmol, the number of channels under Zee Network now rises to 34. Even existing content when it is re-aired on Anmol will be re-packaged to suit small town sensibilities, according to the network.
