Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has announced that Siti Cable has won security nod from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The clearance takes the Subhash Chandra-promoted cable company a step closer to receiving a permanent multi-system operator licence.
Siti Cable representative Vishwa Bandhu Sharma was informed of the MHA’s decision at the third Open House meeting between MIB officials and MSO representatives. The meeting was held on 22 June.
The current permanent MSO registrations stands at 194. Thirty new MSO licence were approved recently to quicken the rollout of the third leg of Digital Addressable System. MIB has also announced that it will be giving provisional permits to companies, provided that they submit an affidavit stating that they don’t have a criminal history.
According to Dataxis Intelligence, Siti Cable had 4.07 million subscribers for the first quarter of 2015. Siti Cable, owned by Essel Group, recently posted an operating profit of INR 321 million for the quarter that ended 31 March, 2015.
