Goldman Sachs has acquired 4.8% stake in Indian multi-system operator, Hathway Cable & Datacom, with an investment of INR5.26 billion (USD85.36 million). The firm has purchased over 8,093,268 shares at INR65 each on the National Stock Exchange.
The other investors namely P6 Asia/Providence Equity Partners, Reliance Capital and CLSA Global hold over 10.85%, 5.23% and 4.02% stake respectively in Hathway.
Hathway recently announced it is seeking shareholder’s approval for increasing its total foreign investment to 74% from the current level of 49% – subject to approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board of India, Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India.
