Korea, China join hands for co-production

South Korean Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP), Choi Mun-kee, and Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television’s (SARFT) director, Wang Taihua, have signed a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU), today, to expand their co-operation in broadcasting and production of content – as part of the Pengyou project, which is a joint project between Korea and China for content.

A policy forum for the project will be held on July 4; in which Korea and China are planning to discuss about how the local digital content industry can enter the Chinese market, and establish a strategy through case studies.

Agreements between broadcasting companies to co-produce content are likely to be signed tomorrow, according to a report. Initiated in October of last year, the policy forum for Pengyou content between Korea and China is aimed at expanding content trades through the construction of business networks in both countries.

China’s GZSTV opts Thomson Video Networks’ decoders for unveiling IPTV

Guizhou Province TV (GZSTV), China’s Guizhou province-based television, has extended its partnership with France-based video compression solutions provider, Thomson Video Networks, to deploy Vibe VS7000 encoding and transcoding platform, for the launch of its new IPTV service, Guizhou IPTV.

The IPTV service currently offers over 17 HD and 35 SD channels. The ViBE VS7000 provides foundation for the network’s long-term strategy to offer a range of IP video services, including multi-screen delivery.

“As a longtime user of Thomson Video Networks’ encoding and video processing solutions, we knew we could count on quality, reliability, and service when deploying the ViBE VS7000 to drive our new IPTV solutions,” said Huang Xuejun, division manager of Guizhou IPTV.
